AROUND ADEGA ANTIGA
Central Portugal has so much to offer; you can visit historic cities, stroll down narrow streets of mountain villages, go on beautiful walks, cool down in hidden river beaches, visit the beaches of the Silver coast, kayak down the river Zezere, visit ancient castles, climb up to the famous university of Coimbra and much, much more...
If you need kayaks there is a company in Perdrogao Pequeno that offers a good rental service.
They also go rock climbing, mountain biking and rent out quats!
You can find more info on pricing etc. at www.trilhos-zezere.com
Central Portugal has many gorgeous river beaches. They are perfect to cool down on a hot summer day as they are always very cold...
At the many lakes you can also find nice swimming pools or little beaches.
The area is well known for its many schist villages. There are some walking routes that take you to see many of them. But they can be hard and steep and sometimes involve some climbing. But it's worth the hard work!
There are various walking routes close to Adega Antiga. One of our favorites is the one that takes you down to the old Roman bridge of Pedrogoa Peqeuno and then follows the river Zezere for a while. It has amazing views of the river and when you're lucky you will spot some eagles or other birds.
There's also some routes that will take you all the way around lake Cabril or lake Bouca but they are for the experienced walkers amongst us.
